Medallia, a customer experience management startup based in Palo Alto, has raised $50 million in Series C funding from Sequoia Capital. Medallia helps big companies parse and understand customer feedback to address issues and improve customer service. Founded in 2001, Medallia has raised $105 million to date and will use the latest cash to hire additional engineers and expand its natural language processing team.

Comprehend Systems, a data visualization startup based in Redwood City, has raised $21 million in a Series B round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from previous backer Sequoia Capital. Comprehend Systems makes cloud-based data insights tools to improve the way clinical researchers access, organize and analyze data. Founded in 2010, Comprehend has raised over $30 million to date and will use the funding to increase its staff by 80 percent and invest in product R&D and support services.

DataRobot, a predictive analytics startup based in Boston, has raised $21 million in a Series A round led by New Enterprise Associates with participation from Atlas Venture, IA Ventures, and New York Life Insurance Co. DataRobot helps data scientists solve problems faster, allowing users to post data that DataRobot preprocesses and identifies algorithms for. Founded in 2012, DataRobot is currently running its service in beta with about 100 clients and will use the new funding to build out its team and implement additional features.
