PernixData, an enterprise storage company based in San Jose, CA, has raised a $35 million Series C round led by Menlo Ventures with participation from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Lightspeed Ventures, and individual investors including Marc Benioff, Jim Davidson, and Steve Luczo. PernixData has built a platform for flash virtualization to speed up computing performance and help companies avoid storage performance challenges. Founded in 2012, PernixData has raised $62 million to date and will use the latest funding to build out its platform and grow its customer base.

Enlighted, an environmental data analytics startup, has raised $20 million in Series D funding from existing investors Draper Nexus Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, RockPort Capital Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and Intel Capital. Enlighted develops wireless sensors that capture real-time environmental data like temperature, light, and movement to help companies control workplace environments. Founded in 2009 in Sunnyvale, Enlighted has raised over $55 million to date and plans to use the new cash to keep up with current demand and continue to develop new workplace applications.

Chain, a bitcoin API developer, has raised $9.5 million in new funding led by Khosla Ventures with participation from previous backers RRE Ventures, Thrive Capital, and SV Angel along with new investors Kevin Ryan, Barry Silbert, Scott Banister, Homebrew, 500 Startups and Pantera Capital. Chain helps developers build bitcoin apps by providing fast access to the blockchain, a massive network that is otherwise very difficult to build on. Founded earlier this year and currently in beta, Chain has raised over $13 million to date and will use the new funding to grow its team and build out its product offerings, with a focus on mobile.
