DataStax, a database management company based in Austin, TX, has raised $106 million in a Series E funding led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers with participation from ClearBridge, Cross Creek, Wasatch, PremjiInvest and Comcast Ventures along with previous backers Lightspeed Venture Partners and Scale Venture Partners. DataStax is the commercial face of the open source Apache Cassandra database, offering enterprise support services and additional features on top of the free project for a fee. Launched in 2010, DataStax has raised over $190 million to date and will use the latest round to continue expanding its teams and prepare for an IPO in the coming year.

MetricStream, a provider of corporate governance and compliance tools headquartered in Palo Alto, has raised a $60 million Series D round led by Sageview Capital with participation from existing investors Goldman Sachs and Kaiser Permanente Ventures. MetricStream helps companies ensure employee compliance with all regulations, providing software to handle audit, document, risk, and issue management issues. Founded in 1999, MetricStream is now valued between $400 and $500 million and will use the cash to compete with other vendors in the governance, risk and compliance business.

Narrative, a Swedish camera startup, has raised $8 million in new funding led by Khosla Ventures with participation from existing investors True Ventures and Passion Capital. Narrative provides a lightweight Narrative Clip camera designed to capture photos at set intervals so that users can record a sequence of photos to later search through and share. Narrative previously raised over $550,000 on Kickstarter in 2012 and will use the latest venture funding to expand its team and open headquarters in San Francisco.
