Reddit, a social news platform headquartered in San Francisco, has raised $50 million in a new round led by Sam Altman with participation from individual investors including Marc Andreessen, Alfred Lin, Peter Thiel, Ron Conway, Jared Leto, and Snoop Dogg. Reddit displays news based on personal preferences and community likes, and attracts 133 million users per month. Founded in 2005, Reddit plans to invest the cash in building out its mobile product, adding new features and expanding its staff.

Expensify, an expense management startup based in San Francisco, has raised $3.5 million in a Series B round led by strategic investor Barracuda Networks. Expensify lets users import expenses or receipts from smartphones to easily create and manage expense reports. Founded in 2008, Expensify has raised just over $10 million to date and will use the latest cash to ramp up sales and marketing and recruit Concur customers to switch to its platform.

Hipcamp, a campsite search platform based in San Francisco, has raised $2 million in seed funding led by O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures and Slow Ventures with participation from Sam Shank, Gregg Brockway, AngelList's Syndicate Fund and Maiden Lane Ventures. Hipcamp provides a comprehensive search platform for campsites that users can search based on amenities, features, and activities. Founded in 2013, Hipcamp currently lists more than 16 thousand campsites in California and will soon expand to cover Texas and New York as well.
