Proterra, an electric vehicle transit tech company, has raised $30 million in a Series D round led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and GM Ventures with participation from previous backers. Based in South Carolina, Proterra designs and manufactures advanced heavy-duty vehicles powered by clean domestic fuels. Founded in 2004, Proterra has raised over $150 million to date and will use the new cash to accelerate further vehicle development.

Light Chaser Animation, an animated film studio based in Beijing, has raised $20 million in a Series B round led by GGV Capital and Chengwei Capital with participation from Hillhouse Capital and returning investor IDG. Light Chaser Animation creates computer animated films for a Chinese audience and will complete its first 3D feature by July 2015. Founded in March of last year, Light Chaser aims to be the Pixar of China and has spent the last year accumulating technology and talent.

MiTú, a Latino media company and video network based in Culver City, has raised $10 million in new funding from Upfront Ventures. MiTú is one of the largest media brands dedicated to Latino content, with over 40 million subscribers and 400 million monthly video views, and covers topics from heath and food to pop culture. Founded in 2012, MiTú will use the latest funding to expand its presence in Los Angeles and Mexico City and build out engineering and sales efforts.
