Menlo Park-based security startup Synack has raised $7.5 million in a Series A round led by Kleiner Perkins with participation from Google Ventures, Greylock Partners, Allegis Capital and Derek Smith. Synack helps businesses best secure their data and networks through its crowdsourcing platform for identifying cyber-security holes. Founded last year, Synack will use the new funds to expand its network of security experts and hire a sales and marketing team.

San Francisco-based meat marketplace AgLocal has raised $1.3 million in new funding led by Chicago Ventures with participation from Sam Yagan, Bob Trahan, and all prior investors. AgLocal began as a marketplace for meat, connecting animal farmers to buyers, but has now pivoted to a consumer-facing service for online shoppers to browse meat products from family-operated farms. Founded in 2011, AgLocal has raised $3.8 million to date and will begin offering its consumer subscription service next month.
