New York-based product invention platform Quirky has raised $79 million in Series D funding from GE and investors Andreessen Horowitz, Norwest Venture Partners, RRE, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Quirky designs and builds consumer products invented by its users, with the idea that invention should be accessible to everyone. Along with the funding, Quirky has partnered with GE to release a line of smart home products. Founded in 2009, Quirky has raised $175 million in funding to date.

Atlanta-based television and online video company Clearleap has raised $20 million in a funding round led by Susquehanna Growth Equity with participation from existing investors Trinity Ventures and Noro-Moseley. Clearleap builds software infrastructure that helps content owners, distributors, and aggregators to make TV and movies available on a wide array of devices. Founded in 2007, Clearleap has raised $36 million in funding to date and will use the new capital to fund expansion into Europe and Latin America.

Washington, D.C.-based smart device startup SmartThings has raised a $12.5 million Series A round of financing led by Greylock Partners and Highland Capital Partners. SmartThings creates a variety of easy-to-use sensors that you can place in your home, office, and car for a variety of purposes such as monitoring home security or reducing energy use. Founded in 2012, SmartThings has already raised over $15 million in funding to date, with previous investors including First Round Capital, SV Angel, and Lerer Ventures.
