Greylock locks down $1B venture fund
Greylock Partners announced it has raised $1 billion for its 15th venture capital fund, which will focus on early stage technology investments. The Silicon Valley VC has a history of making early bets on transformative software and Internet companies, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Airbnb and Workday.
Zymergen raises $130M for engineered microbe tech
Zymergen, an Emeryville, Calif.-based developer of technology using robots and machine learning to engineer microbes, raised $130 million in a Series B round led by SoftBank and joined by existing investors. The round is one of about a dozen Series B investments of $50 million or more in biotech startups this year, according to a Crunchbase Pro search.
V5 Partners said to launch $200M Auto VC fund
V5 Partners, a new automotive technology investment firm based outside Detroit, has raised $150 million in committed capital and arranged a $50 million line of credit, according to a Crain’s Detroit Business report. The firm has reportedly already made its first investment, in San Francisco-based Trucks Venture Management, which is raising a fund that invests in connected car startups.
