San Francisco-based anonymous sharing app Secret has raised a new round of $10 million led by Google Ventures with participation from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Secret lets people anonymously post messages to their circles of contacts and is now valued at $50 million post-money. Launched in January, Secret previously raised seed funding from investors including SV Angel, Initialized Capital, Index Ventures, and Fuel Capital.
Brazilian online travel agency Hotel Urbano has raised $50 million in Series D funding from Tiger Global Management and Insight Venture Partners. Hotel Urbano is one of Brazil's largest hotel and vacation package booking service with expected annual revenues over $400 million this year. Founded in 2011, Hotel Urbano has raised $85 million to date and will use the latest cash to expand international sales and marketing efforts and partner with additional hotels.
Boston-based student loan search platform SimpleTuition has raised $26 million in funding from Atlas Venture, Flybridge Capital Partners, and North Hill Ventures. SimpleTuition helps students seeking financial assistance to compare and analyze different student loan options. Launched in 2006, SimpleTuition has raised over $50 million in funding to date and helped over 3,000 students pay off $2.5 million in debt.
