San Francisco-based payroll service ZenPayroll has raised $20 million in Series A funding led by General Catalyst Partners with participation from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. ZenPayroll offers a cloud-based payroll application that automates all payroll tax calculations and payments, providing direct deposit to employees. Founded in 2011, ZenPayroll is currently processing $400 million in annual payroll and plans to use the new funds to expand its team and accelerate product growth.

San Francisco-based urban delivery platform Postmates has raised a Series B round of $16 million led by Spark Capital with participation from existing investors including Crosslink Capital, Matrix Partners, and SoftTech VC. Postmates provides local delivery service within an hour through its mobile app and network of couriers and is currently available in San Francisco, Seattle, NYC, and Washington, D.C. Founded in 2011, Postmates has raised $23 million to date and will use the new funds to continue expanding to new cities.

Wisconsin Rapids-based assessment and learning analytics company Renaissance Learning has raised $40 million from Google Capital, marking the first investment in education for Google's late-stage investment vehicle. Renaissance offers a variety of cloud-based learning and assessment tools designed to provide a data-driven approach to teachers and students. Founded in 1984, Renaissance Learning currently serves 18 million student users and will use the new fund to build out products in its pipeline and explore acquisition opportunities.
