San Francisco-based SQL-on-Hadoop database Splice Machine has raised $15 million in a Series B funding led by InterWest Partners and previous investor Mohr Davidow Ventures. Splice Machine provides all the benefits of NoSQL databases while retaining the industry standard SQL, optimizing complex queries without rewriting existing apps. Founded in 2012, Splice Machine will use the latest funds to accelerate product development and expand its sales and marketing teams as it prepares to launch into public beta.

London-based peer-to-peer foreign currency exchange startup Kantox has raised €6.5 million in a Series A funding led by Partech Ventures and Idinvest Partners with participation from existing investor Cabiedes & Partners. Kantox provides small and medium enterprises a currency exchange platform for the purpose of money transfer, offering better exchange rates by cutting out banks and brokers through its P2P model. Founded in 2011, Kantox has raised around $11 million in funding to date and will use the new capital to continue developing its technology and consolidate its presence across Europe.

New York-based employee travel booking startup Rocketrip has raised $2.6 million in a Series A round led by Canaan Partners with participation from Genacast Ventures. Rocketrip provides an incentive-based platform to reward good employees by allowing them to share in the cost-savings they generate while traveling. Founded last year, Rocketrip will use the funds to accelerate product development and build out sales and client services.
