OpenDoor snags $210M for property sales
OpenDoor, a home buying and selling platform, has raised $210 million in a Series D round led by Norwest Venture Partners. The three-year-old company’s model is unusual in that it owns its own inventory of homes, offering a quick purchase for sellers and then “flipping” the home to a new buyer. OpenDoor, which currently serves the Phoenix and Dallas metro areas, plans to use the funding to expand to more cities.
ODG raises $58M Series A for VR glasses
Osterhout Design Group (ODG), a maker of smartglasses for augmented and virtual reality, raised a $58 million Series A round led by 21st Century Fox and joined by Shenzhen O-film Tech Co. and others. San Francisco-based ODG was founded in 1999 as a technology incubator and in recent years has focused on wearable technologies.
Fitbit acquiring smartwatch maker Pebble
In other wearables news, fitness-tracking device developer Fitbit is acquiring smartwatch maker Pebble for somewhere between $34 million and $40 million, VentureBeat reports. Afterward, Fitbit is expected to retire the Pebble brand.
