DraftKings raises $150M for fantasy sports
Fantasy sports site DraftKings has closed $150 million in a new round led by Revolution Capital. DraftKings hasn’t said how it will use the funding, but the upcoming NFL season is when the company spends a majority of its advertising budget, which was more than $150 million on TV ads alone last year, TechCrunch reports.
Arcus Biosciences adds $70M in Series B financing
Arcus Biosciences, an oncology drug developer, has raised $70 million as part of its Series B financing from Taiho Ventures, GV, Invus, DROIA Oncology Ventures and Stanford University, together with its existing investors.Hayward, Calif.-based Arcus will use the funding to develop its small molecule and antibody immuno-oncology approaches to fighting cancer.
Rocket explosion sets back Facebook’s Africa internet plans
SpaceX’s latest mission to launch a satellite to expand Facebook’s presence in Africa ended in flames during a rocket test at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Facebook had planned to use the satellite to provide internet access to parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
