PhishMe raises $42.5M in latest big security deal
Another day, another big security funding. PhishMe, the developer of an enterprise platform to defend against email phishing attacks, has closed a $42.5 million Series C round led by Paladin Capital. The Leesburg, Virginia-based company is the latest of several security companies to announce large VC investments over the past two weeks. Others include cybersecurity startups StackPath ($180 million) and SafeBreach ($15 million), antifraud company Sift Science ($30 million) and threat detection software developer Acalvio Technologies ($17 million).
Shipt bags $20M for grocery delivery
Move over, Instacart. Shipt, a Birmingham, Ala.-based provider of a grocery ordering app and delivery service, has raised $20.1 million in a Series A round backed by Greycroft Partners, Harbert Growth Partners and e.ventures. The deal represents the largest venture round, by orders of magnitude, to close in Alabama this year, according to CrunchBase data.
Hyperloop One unveils new manufacturing plant
Hyperloop One announced the opening of its first manufacturing plant, Hyperloop One Metalworks, in North Las Vegas, TechCrunch reports. There, staffers will build and test components for the DevLoop, a prototype of the Hyperloop, a transport system that uses pods in tightly controlled, tube-contained environments to increase speed.
