CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity SaaS startup, announced $100M in Series C funding this morning led by Google Capital with participation from Rackspace and existing investors Accel and Warburg Pincus. This marks the 17th investment for Google Capital since the firm launched in 2013. CircleUp, a crowdfunding platform for consumer brands to raise money from accredited investors, has closed a $22M fund of its own to invest in a range of brands on the platform. This is nearly as much as CircleUp has raised in total venture funding -- $23M from Google Ventures and USV, among others. 500 Startups announced the launch of Distro Dojo, a new accelerator program for later-stage startups in Southeast Asia. In partnership with Malaysian government startup program MaGIC, 500 Startups plans to invest $50k in 100 startups over the next three years. Vitaly M. Golomb of early stage fund CCC Startups explains why accelerator programs are the true business schools of the future, and urges entrepreneurs to be cautious when selecting one. It's important to remember that just like startups, most startup accelerators also fail.
