Are there more female founders? CrunchBase recently started adding gender data to help researchers answer that question, and Fast Company chimed in with a take on the CrunchBase effort. African-American venture investors are the interest of Richard Kerby at Venrock. In a recent analysis, Kerby says minorities comprise only 1.5% of investors at the top 200 U.S. firms. Regardless of race or gender, most founders raising Series A rounds are at a disadvantage, according to Josh Kopelman of First Round. Kopelman says the seed funding boom is giving founders a false sense of confidence and setting them up for a tough reality check at Series A.
